So, we’re going through a crash course of content in the early goings on genre, especially since we miss(ed) out on class on Monday the 16th. Since it’s critical for us moving forward to have a firm grasp on what precisely genre is, and how we understand it, let’s start there!
For this post, I want you to write no fewer than 200 words (so at least a healthy paragraph, but preferably more!) explaining how you personally understand what a "genre" is at the moment. You can discuss what knowledge you came in with, examples, what we’ve discussed in class, what you’ve learned so far, and whatever else works for you! DUE BY 11:59 PM, Sunday, January 22nd

As the blurb on the side indicates, these are a way to keep you engaged with the material of the course beyond when we meet, which will be especially vital when we only meet once per week. I'll be putting up questions and topics for you to respond to in order to get you thinking about or reflecting on elements of theory and practice across the topics we cover in our course.
For these, you need not be especially formal; just write in a relaxed tone, and tell me what you think. That's all I'm looking for, though I welcome a more formal tone if that plays to your strengths/comforts as a writer. To complete them successfully, make sure you do them on time, and that they contain at least 200-300 words of content. I won't be counting words one by one, unless I can tell you're not engaging with the content and/or it's way, way too short. Otherwise, respond thoroughly and thoughtfully, with at least one solid paragraph, and you should be good to go for successful completion of the Responses required for this course. |
