So, we just did the demand grid exercise again that forced you to come up with a ridiculous number of potential audiences. Once again, I apologize for putting you through that, but I imagine it's gotten you to think more and harder about this than you normally would.
With that in mind, I'd like you to write about the following in an informal, in-class response:
Due to some poor timing on my part, please get this done ASAP on your end, and I won't be adding in late penalties any time soon for it.

My topic encompasses the most common drugs found on college campuses throughout the country, and the long-term effects that they can have on the human body. The 5 audiences that I started out with were college students, high schoolers, drug addicts, parents, and people contemplating trying drugs. In the end, I chose to star college students, high schoolers, parents, politicians/government workers, and guys in fraternities. I believe college students should be an audience because these drugs are all around them, and they need to understand the consequences that will come if they choose to try them. High schoolers will soon be in the same position, so they should learn as well. I believe parents should know the true results of long-term drug abuse, in order to properly warn their children. Politicians and government workers should be aware as well, as there is an ongoing debate about the possible legalization of many drugs. Lastly, I believe that fraternity guys should know the consequences of drug use in college, as they are often either peer pressured into trying them, or forcing others to do so as a form of hazing. I want to create a social media page, such as a Twitter account, as it is used so frequently by teenagers. I also want to create a brochure, as they can concisely and creatively display information.

My research topic was Food Advertising/Marketing and its Effects on Childhood obesity. From the activity we did in class, my first five audiences were parents, health/nutrition major students, doctors (dietitians, pediatrics), the U.S Food and Drug administration, and schools (k-12). At the end of the activity, my top five audiences i starred were parents, college students in health/ nutrition majors, doctors, schools (k-12), food manufacturing companies and sport coaches. I starred these five because they seem to correlate or be affected most by childhood obesity and can be easily targeted through different forms of media. Completing this activity gave me good insight and i have a clear idea of the three audiences i want to target. Those being Parents, Doctors and school aged kids. These three seem to be most affected by childhood obesity and can be easily targeted through different mediums.

My research topic is animal-assisted therapy. From the in class exercise, my first five audiences were: people on disability, mental health patients, college students with stress, children with behavioral issues, and the elderly. At the end of this I realized that my top five choices were college students with stress, people interested in seeking AAT, animal assisted therapists, children with behavioral issues, and people with depression. I starred these particular audiences because they seem to connect the most with the ideas I have regarding this project. I already have a few things in mind and I am sure I can incorporate those audiences correctly. I think that i do have a handle on where i would like to begin with this project. Going into this project I plan on creating an ad for a daycare center specifically for children with behavioral issues that incorporates animal assisted therapy in their daily activities. I would also like to create an Instagram page in order to target the younger college student audience. This page will include descriptions of different pets and how to get in contact with an AAT facility. Lastly, i would like to create a pamphlet, one usually found in a counselor or doctors office, that could be given out to people interested in learning more about AAT.

My topic is about both the adult film and regular film industries, and the different types of abuses (such as sexual, drugs, and mental) presented to people in these industries. My first five audiences were people interested in film, people interested in learning more about the lives of famous people they have heard of, movie buffs, medical journalists (different types of diseases associated in the adult film industry), and film majors. By the end of the exercise I ended up starring actors, movie buffs, parents wanting to pick appropriate movies for their children, film critics, and directors. I chose actors (and aspiring actors/actresses in school or otherwise) because the research I found correlates to their profession and the things they could be influenced by. Movie lovers because it would be interesting to learn about the behind the scenes stuff of films they love and parents because some like to restrict their children from certain films; by reading about the background of certain films it could be good for the parent to be informed of what’s going on before showing their children. Film critics can properly divulge important information and therefore can inform the public, and directors so they can read and be informed of, as well as aware of, the people surrounding them, along with themselves. I want to write a script describing what I wrote in my paper with the audience being the actors. I am also thinking of doing a film critic’s review to inform the public of negative happenings, and I am thinking of doing a movie poster to advertise some of the things I wrote about.

My topic for this past assignment is the holocaust. When I first started this exercise my first 5 ideas for an audience that came to mind were temples, 15-27 year olds, Jewish organizations, Rabis, and teenagers. By the end of this exercise I decided to star off people that were involved in the holocaust, Jewish people, Researchers, High Schoolers, and people that are planning on visiting the concentration camps. I stared those particularly because I feel like between that age group of high schoolers is when you start to understand what it really is the most. It is important to have knowledge if you are going to the camps because without knowledge you don’t really know what that camp was, what happened there or what it was for. People that have relatives or someone that they know was part of it will have more interest and connection to someone that doesn’t. As well as researchers so they are able to learn more to have more to talk about and finally Jewish people because everyone that was in the holocaust fought for where the Jews are today. I have a small idea on the audience I want to capture for essay three I’m leaning more towards people that are going to visit the camps or have relatives that were in it.

My topic is about how the correlation of alcohol prohibition and marijuana prohibition relate. Understanding how these periods relate, we might be able to expect what is to come from the prohibition of marijuana the future. After seeing how these topics are so similar in my research, I decided my first 5 audiences, and what I wrote down were the government/lawmakers, the US people, policemen, pro-marijuana supporters, and Mexico. I ended up staring several of my first ideas, but there were also some other ideas that I found to be very interesting. I starred the government/lawmakers, the youth of America, policemen, the American economy, and the Mexican drug cartels. I starred these audiences because they seemed to have the most to talk about. It would be interesting to hear how the government would make changes going forward and how they would implement them. The youth of America is also an interesting audience to hear from because they will be the ones who will be living through the government’s decision. Policemen would have to implement new rules to cater the ruling of the government and would be interested how they will have to do so in the future. The American economy could gain more money by taxing legal weed and through jobs, or they could lose out on everything to the underground economy. The drug cartels would be interested on hearing on a decision because they would either be put out of business or be made permanent controllers of the weed trade. All of these ideas sound reasonable to me and it would be interesting in divulging into them deeper. I think I have a really good idea of what I want to do, but I am struggling what I am supposed to do in going forward. I figured out my audiences and why I want to use them, but now what? Once I figure this out, I think I’m all set to write my paper.

The topic of my project is “Scorpion Venom: When Toxins Become Cures”, and it talks about the potential of scorpion venom as a natural alternative to treat cancer. New drugs with formulas based on scorpion venom solutions have proven to inhibit the growth and multiplication of tumors and target specifically cancer cells. This could be helpful because the methods currently used attack tumorous cells and healthy ones, debilitating patients’ health. As an alternative or a complement, scorpion venom can become an effective treatment for thousands worldwide. When I first did the exercise I immediately thought about cancer patients, family members of cancer patients, oncology doctors, nurses, and pharmacists as my audiences. At the end of the exercise I still starred most of my original audiences: oncology doctors, cancer patients, their families, pharmacists. In addition, two other potential candidates can be: pre-med students because it can be an interesting topic when doing undergraduate research, and pharmaceutical companies that may be interested in buying, developing, or improving the formula for the drug. The reason I am using those original audiences is because oncology doctors can inform their patients better, pharmacists need to be informed of every new drug and product designed for medical treatment, because they will have to advise their clients based on their knowledge and they have to be educated on possible alternatives. The reason I kept cancer patients and their families is pretty self-explanatory, because these people are desperate for effective methods to fight the disease, and family members are very involved in the whole process, especially if the patients are children or teenagers. I think I have some good ideas for Project 3, that can include an infographic, targeting cancer patients, something you would see in a doctor’s office, very informative, visual, with precise information in a limited space (approximately the size of a poster). A medication review, as if a new drug was being introduced in a website like WebMed for the general public but specially for cancer patients. A third option could be a children’s book because it would be a challenge to summarize such an extensive project and research into simple basic concepts that children could understand. I think I could summarize it without problems but I don’t know if it’s the best medium to talk about this topic, so this last option may be replaced by another.

My topic is the effects of social media and technology. In my paper I focused on the age groups of children, teenagers, and young adults with a lot of emphasis on college students. The first five audience I started out with during this exercise were college students, educators, parents, younger children, and females. By the end of the exercise, I starred college students, females, advertising companies, parents, and young children. I starred these particular audiences because I believe I can find a way to tie my project into each of these groups. For college students, I plan to advertise the dangers of multitasking while studying and how their grades will be affected. I can attract the audience of educators by showing the positive effect of incorporating technology into classroom curriculum. I can attract females by creating a positive body image advertisement. I can appeal to advertising companies by showing the dangers unrealistic female body portrayals create in young women, and I can attract the audience of young children by demonstrating how a world consumed by technology and social media can impact them in their years ahead in life. I think I have a pretty good handle on this project and how I want to proceed in completing it. I want to mainly focus on different audiences involving education because the bulk of my paper and research focused on the effects technology and social media had on education.

My research topic was about abortion. The first five audiences that I started out with were, college students, high schooler’s, women, politicians, and my teacher. in the end, I used the same five audiences in my research paper because I based it off women and politics, so I mainly directed it to women and politics but I addressed, high schoolers, college students, and my teacher. I starred these five audiences because since I based my paper off women and abortion and politics and abortion, I ended up choosing these audiences so I could educate them into learning that there are different beliefs when it comes to abortion. abortion is a very touchy subject and then a lot of people have their different opinions, I think that with the audiences I chose, I got to show each audience a different side of to what people believe and to realize that everyone is different and abortion will always be something difficult that will always be debated. I think I have a handle on the audiences that I would want to choose for the start of project 3. I think the audiences I want to address, are women, college students, and parents. I would want to use these audiences because I think that I can address a message to them very well and that they will get a point, and hopefully they will understand what other people believe in and that they will understand that.

My topic is about the threats to different ecosystems and that are leading to an increase in global warming. The first five audiences that came to mind were politicians, environmentalists, marine biologists, global warming advocates, and tourists. After I had came up with almost twenty-five possible audiences, I starred environmentalists, tourists, students that are enrolled in an environmental class, global warming activists, and politicians. I decided to star these five audiences because I feel that each of them would have interest in the subject of my paper. I believe it would be of great use to the audiences I chose. I think that for one of the genres in project 3 I could create a textbook page explaining global warming and detailed information about certain topics such as coral bleaching and acidification. The textbook page would appeal to students in environmental science classes and/or students majoring in environmental science. Another thought, is that I could create a brochure for tourists wanting to visit the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It would consist of the threats that affect the reef to inform tourists and maybe some tips that tourists can take to help keep the reef free from things such as plastic bottles. I hope to create genres for project 3 that are applicable to 3 particular audiences and make it clear for the audiences to understand.

My topic is Tiger Woods and his effect on the game of golf and more specifically the younger generation of players. The audiences I started out with were young golfers, sports fans, minority athletes, the older generation of golfers, and sports writers. The five I starred were PGA tour golfers, young golfers, minority athletes, sports reporters, and sport doctors. I starred these specific audiences because they all have a direct effect on Tiger Woods. As of right now I am not really sure where I want to begin with the specific audiences because I am still getting a handle on the project as a whole and where I want to go especially with what audiences I want to target.

My topic is fad diets and why they keep re-occurring. My top five choices as the audience were diabetics, students, teachers, bariatric patients, historians, and nutritionist. By the end of the in class experiment I starred bariatric patients, young girls, diabetics, students, and people wanting to live a healthy lifestyle. I choose to star these ones in particular because i thought of good medians that attract these sort of audiences. I think i am starting to get a handle on project 3. My ideas for a medians is book with the title this not this.My second ideas to make a blog and finally my last idea is to create a flyer. I will probably use the flyer bariatric patients, because i can be placed in a doctors office for them to read. Other than i am not quite sure what audience i am going to assign to each median. Most difficult part of this project is making sure everything ties together nicely.

My research topic is how technology is integrated into education. My first five audiences were teachers, parents, textbook writers, students and video game makers. As the list went on I began to get ideas for my project. By the end of the exercise the three I starred were apple, quizlet and the government. I have an idea to make a page that looks like an app for learning as one of the pieces to my project. My idea with quizlet was to basically make a quizlet. This will show the new online technique of studying. Then my final idea, with the audience being the government, I want to have an email being sent out to parents as a newsletter. All three of these things show how technology is being incorporated into the education system more and more every day.

My topic is drug trafficking in Columbia. The first five audiences I came up with was government officials, drug users, people who like Narcos, teenagers, and Florida natives. The five audiences I ending up starring was protective parents, jails, schools, Florida natives, and government officials. I chose those audiences because I thought it would be a good direction to take my paper in. Government officials and jails would care about the crime rate coming from drug trafficking. Protective parents and schools would be worried about their kids getting caught up in it. And Florida natives would be worried about their hometown being wrecked with drugs. I'm having trouble deciding which one to take it with. I think for my genres I'd like to do polar opposites as much as I can when making projects for my genre; perhaps concentrating on those fearing the damage that drugs will have, those whose goal is to catch people distributing and using drugs, and those who use drugs themselves. I'm excited to see where this project goes.

My topic is on Animal Testing, my first five audiences were women, men, children, makeup artists and scientists. I think the most effective audiences are women, men and children. I starred these three groups of people because women use makeup on a regular basis, with little to no knowledge of the animal cruelty behind a bottle of mascara. Men are also a target because products such as cologne, shampoo, and deodorant are used by them on a regular basis as well and most of them are not even aware of the animals experimented on. Children are also a group of audience because they are by far going to be the most effected by learning about animal testing – they don’t what to see theyre favorite animals in labs rather than some adults that may ignore it. These three groups are going to be my main targets for project 3 and I’m excited to see where it goes!

My topic includes Dissociative Identity Disorder and how it is portrayed in media. My first five audiences I was able to come up with for this exercise was people who saw the movie Split, teachers, parents, therapists, and doctors. By the end of the exercise, however, I only starred one of my first potential audiences which was people who saw Split. I also starred people with Dissociative Identity Disorder, tv/movie producers, people who do not believe in D.I.D., and people who watch youtubers that have D.I.D. I starred these particular audiences because I felt they are the most important people to reach. For example, if I am able to influence tv/movie producers then they can in turn influence all of their viewers. I know which audiences I want to target because like my previous example I am looking to find the most influential and important audiences to work with. Another example is for people who saw Split or watch youtubers with D.I.D. are already interested in the disorder but teaching them more on the topic would help them to not only understand it but to teach others about it too.

My topic is deciphering lying through facial expressions, verbal language and body language. The first five audiences I started with were: police officers, psychologists, parents, teenagers, and teachers. The five audiences that I ended up staring were: police officers, couples, criminals, politicians, and teenagers. I starred these audiences because they will be able to take the most out of my topic and relate the most to it. Yes, I know which audiences I would like to begin with to start my project three assignment. The audiences I would like to begin with are: couples, politicians and police officers. These three audiences will relate strongly to my topic. Politicians, police officers and couples all deal with lying. Politicians could learn how to effectively lie to the public through my topic. Police officers and couples could learn how to better decipher lying from suspects and significant others through my topic.

My topic that is going to be about technology in medicine. I was not in class the day everyone did the activity, so when I did it on my own I came up with a list of audiences that I could use when I'm writing project three. The five audiences ended up starring were doctors, hospitals, patients, insurance providers, and potential investors for funding. I chose these audiences because I felt they would be the groups of people that are impacted most by technology in medicine. I'm not exactly sure where to start for this project. I think I'm struggling because I'm finding it difficult to write about the same thing to diverse groups. I think once I write down and brainstorm about what I should include for each audience I will be able to get a handle on things.

The topic I chose is dreams. In my paper I researched about what dreams are and the main types of dreams humans can experience. The first five audiences that I started out with in the exercise were teenagers, patients, therapists, children, and parents. These were just some of the first five to pop into my head. The 5 audiences that I ended up giving a star at the end of the exercise were, children & parents, therapists/patients, students, yourself, and young adults. I think these were some of the best audiences for the ideas for the projects I have running through my head. As of now I think these 5 audiences seem best, but it’s possible once I really start the projects they may change. I have lots of ideas, so yes I think I have a handle on where I am beginning project three. Some of the ideas I have are a dream journal- audience=myself, I know this was one of the examples though. Another idea is to target children and their parents because they may be interested in helping their child with nightmares for example. A third idea would be something targeting therapists and their patients to help them solve dream problems they have.

My topic is the effects of technology on child development in the early years. The first five audiences that I started off with in this exercise were parents, teachers, families with children, school administration, and companies that make products for children. The five audiences that I end up starring at the end of this exercise were my first 4 and children. I starred these particular audiences because I feel that the information I am presenting would be most relevant to these audiences. This information would be relevant to parents for obvious reasons, being that they are the primary influence on their children and they often rely on technology for daily activities. Also, teachers, school administration, and family members should all be aware of the effects of technology use on child development. In Project 3, I would like to mainly target parents and teachers of children. They are the people that have the primary influence on child development in their younger years. Also, they are responsible for the amount of exposure children get to technology in leisure and academic time.

Changes in Birth Control laws Through the last three Presidential Cabinets is my topic. My first five audiences were high school aged children, adults going through divorce, first year college students, and doctors. I ended with the five audiences of: High school students, state government employees, college professors, and parents of teenagers. I starred this particular audiences because they are the ones that I believe are affected most by birth control law changes and would be most interested in finding out more about the topic, for their own individual and unique reasons. I think I have a handle on what I want to begin with in regards to audiences. I think I first want to make my audience the parents of teenagers as birth control is something they are concerned about with the hormones of teenagers being such a huge thing when they are that age. Their exposure and equation in such is heavily influenced by the availability of birth control and how much it is being sold for.

My topic is the rising maternal death rate in the United States. It is rising steadily and steeply, and while there are speculations as to why, the cause of this trend is not known. My first five target audiences were women in general, parents-to-be, medical professionals, politicians and lawmakers, and researchers. I think that these are still the audiences that I would target. Women would be interested because the thought of living in a country with a maternal death rate on par with a lot of unindustrialized countries is scary. Parents-to-be would be interested because they would want to do everything in their power to make sure they were not a part of that demographic. Medical professionals would be interested because they would want to implement strategies to counteract this terrible trend and ensure the health of the mother. Politicians and lawmakers would want to know about this to possibly create laws that could mitigate the amount of maternal deaths, and politicians could direct funding to organizations to do further research on this topic. Researchers would be interested so that they could be the ones to determine the cause and propose a solution. I think I have a handle on Project 3, although I’m having a difficult time being creative in such a way that the information is still effectively conveyed.

My topic is the use of steroids in baseball. The audiences I began to target were coaches, young players, doctors, high school coaches and the MLB commissioner. The use of steroids is increasing every day and I want to target the best people to figure out why. By the end of the activity I ended up starring, players, MLB commissioner, and fans. One of my groupmates said to write to the fans and I thought it would be interesting to get the fans of baseball involved with what I call a steroid crisis. Never would I have thought to do that unless we did the activity in class. I was perfectly content with 3 of my first 5 choices but some of my classmates have very good ideas. I chose the MLB Commissioner because I really don't think he is paying enough attention to the crisis of using performance enhancing drugs. It's kind of like a "don't ask, don't tell" kind of topic with Mr. Manfred. I personally think that they should just let the players use them because most of them do anyways. But right now the league is constantly suspending players and the game isn't the same with certain people out there.
